Looking for easy meal ideas for the new year?
I admit cooking for my family has gotten trickier as the kids have gotten older. Now that my kids are bigger and starting to have lives of their own, it can be a challenge to find time to cook in between all the various events on our schedule.
One of my goals for 2023 is to save time in the kitchen and to have more meals together at home as a family. The good news is that these two things can actually go hand in hand. Recently, our family has had the opportunity to try a must-have subscription box for the new year from Wildgrain.
What is Wildgrain? They are the first-ever, bake-from-frozen subscription box for sourdough breads, fresh pastas, and artisanal pastries.
Founded by Johanna and Ismail, Wildgrain is a company on a mission to replace supermarket breads and pantry staples.
Small-batch bakers and pasta makers across the country partner with Wildgrain to provide nutritious artisanal breads, pastas, and pastries in a monthly themed subscription box that’s too delicious to resist.
I recently had the opportunity to try out a Wildgrain box and there was so much goodness inside! With everything from hearty crusty breads to flaky croissants to delicious dessert pastries and pasta this is a gift that keeps on giving.
The items inside each order are restaurant quality, but super easy to prepare and add to your own menu in minutes.
One of the things that impressed me about my Wildgrain order was the list of ingredients on every delicious product I received.
What was so unique about it? There hardly were any ingredients! These fabulous baked goods and pastas just include simple ingredients that you can recognize and pronounce without any extras. As a mom who keeps an eye on what my kids eat, this is fabulous and I love knowing that there are no unnecessary extras in these food items — just lots of flavor.
This weekend we had family visiting, several holiday events and my husband and I have been sick with the respiratory crud that has been going around. We needed a hearty and filling meal that would warm us up from these cold Iowa temps and that I could make quickly since we didn’t have much time at home.
The solution? Chicken Parmesan. Here is how I made it with my Wildgrain box.
To make a quick and kid-friendly meal I pulled out some frozen Chicken parm patties out of the freezer. I also got out a jar of pasta sauce and a couple kinds of shredded cheese. In addition, I got out a pack of Wildgrain pasta and a loaf of Wildgrain bread.
Ingredients
- Frozen Chicken Parmesan Patties (look in freezer aisle at your local grocer)
- Shredded cheese (use your favorites)
- Pasta sauce
- Pasta (Wildgrain Tonnarelli was used)
- Bread (Optional – Wildgrain was used)
Instructions
Pre-heat your oven to temperature directed on Wildgrain bread. Place the bread in the oven to bake as directed.
Gather your ingredients. In a large saucepan, start the water to boil for the pasta.
Prepare your chicken as instructed on the box. Mine were fried in oil until browned.
Place the chicken patties in a baking dish and cover with your favorite shredded cheeses.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until cheese starts to bubble.
While your bread and chicken Parmesan patties are baking, warm your pasta sauce and cook your Wildgrain pasta as directed.
Top pasta with sauce and chicken patties.
Serve with Wildgrain bread and salad if desired.
