Cute Reindeer Headband Christmas Craft
Here is what you need to make this project.
Supplies
● Inexpensive plain headband (like from the dollar store or an old one you no longer use)
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Glue gun with glue stick
- Craft Glue
- Construction paper including:
- White construction paper
- Red colored paper
- Green colored paper
- Brown colored paper
- Brown cardboard or cardstock
Wrapping the Headband
The first step of this festive Christmas headband is to wrap the headband with Christmas colored strips of paper.
For the headband, you will want something inexpensive. This can be an old one you already have on hand or a cheap plastic one from the dollar store.
To get started, you will want to cut a thin but long strip of both the red and green colored construction paper using scissors.
Depending on the size of your reindeer headband, you may need more than one strip of each color. Want different colors other than red and green? Use whatever colors you like!
After your strips are cut, you will want to wrap the strips around the headband candy cane style. You can secure the strips to the headband with craft glue or a hot glue gun.
Wrap one color of paper first, and then wrap the other color in the spaces to fill it in.
Making the Antlers
On a sheet of paper or cardstock, draw antlers similar to the above. They don’t have to be perfect or exact. Just do whatever your child desires! If you’d like a reindeer antler template, there are a selection that you can print here.
For a fun alternative, have your child trace around their hands and use the hand shapes as the antlers.
Cut out the antlers (or traced hands). You will want a little bit of length on the antlers as shown to have room to connect to the headband.
Paste the antlers on a brown sheet of colored construction paper using a glue and carefully cut it out again using scissors.
If you feel like the antlers need a little more thickness to stand on their own, you can repeat this step with a piece of thin brown cardboard or card stock, cutting the antlers out again.
Finishing Touches
To make your reindeer headband more festive, add a bit of decor to the ends of the antlers. Use a sheet of white construction paper and cut a few small circles out of it, one for the end of each antler.
For a more festive addition, you could also skip this step and add stick on rhinestones instead for some glitter and glam.
