March is officially almost here and after a long winter, we’re ready to kick February out the door! We’re ready for spring weather, sunshine and March Madness basketball here at Two Kids and a Coupon. And while the games are still a couple of weeks away, we thought we’d get in the spirit with some fun basketball Rice Krispie Treats. Here’s how to make them!

Basketball Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients (and Supplies)

  • 16 oz bag marshmallows
  • 7 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Orange food coloring
  • 2 cups light cocoa candy melts
  • Decorating bags
  • Large microwave safe bowl
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Long Spoon
  • 9″ x 13” baking pan
  • Butter Flavored non-stick cooking spray
  • 4-5” circle cookie cutter

To make your basketball Rice Krispies treats, combine your marshmallows and butter in a large bowl. Microwave for one to two minutes and mix. Then, add in a few drops of orange food coloring.

Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix until the cereal is evenly covered.

Using the non-stick cooking spray, grease a large baking pan and firmly press your cereal mixture into the pan. Let it sit for a few hours at room temperature or in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Using a circle cookie cutter, cut out basketball shaped Rice Krispie treats. Mix your can of frosting with orange food coloring until you have the desired shade of orange and place in a decorating bag.

To add the details, in a small microwave-safe bowl, heat 2 cups of light cocoa candy melts on 50% power for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Fill a decorating bag with the melted chocolate and use it to draw the lines on each of the basketball Rice Krispie Treats.
