Unicorn Paper Plate Craft
Part of the fun of being a kid is that ordinary objects can often become magical. An empty paper towel tube can become a telescope or a sword and with the help of paint or glue, a normal paper plate can become all kinds of things.
We love fun kids crafts that turn boring household objects into fun and magical creations and we fell in love with this magical unicorn paper plate craft that can be made in minutes.

Supplies
- Paper plates
- Oversized googly eyes
- Rainbow yarn or ombre yarn
- Scissors
- Hole-puncher
- Elmer’s School Glue (Older kids may prefer to use a glue gun with glue sticks or a stapler)
- Construction paper
Instructions:
For each unicorn, you’ll need a paper plate and will want to help kids cut a small supply of unicorn hair (a.k.a. yarn) into 6-inch strands.
Using the glitter paper stock, cut a horn. Using white construction paper, cut two triangles for ears and two smaller triangles pink paper. You’ll also want to cut two small circles for cheeks.
Older children can draw and cut these shapes on their own, but small kids might need your assistance.
Punch six holes into the rim of the plate and thread and tie yarn through holes. This is a great project for kids to practice tying knots!
Next, glue the horn, and ears onto the back of the plate.
Then, glue on the eyes and cheeks! Let the kids get creative and add a mouth and other features if they choose to do so!
