How to Make a Rainbow Fruit Tray

Spring has finally sprung here in Iowa and while it’s still pretty cool and we’re running the heat most nights, we finally have sun and warm weather most days. We’re excited to get out and enjoy the sun and warm weather activities, including one of our favorites which is getting together with family and friends for picnics and barbecues.

My little produce junkies never met a piece of fruit that they didn’t like, so one summer time must when we’re entertaining is a fruit tray. While the contents might vary slight for what’s in season and what’s more affordable here in the northern states during the time of year, it’s always a hit with everyone and one of the first things to disappear.

One of our favorite ways to make our fruit trays is as a rainbow fruit tray. It adds color to every table and is lots of fun for little fingers to grab and eat. Here’s how to make it.

Rainbow Fruit Platter

Ingredients:

  • One small seedless watermelon cut into bite sized pieces
  • One to two large cans of mandarin oranges, drained (depending on the size of platter and how big you want your ring)
  • One pound of pineapple cut into pieces
  • One pound grapes
  • One small package of blue berries

Directions

  • Wash and cut fruit, draining as much juice as possible
  • Arrange as a rainbow or as a circle rainbow if desired
  • Keep refrigerated until serving
  • Delicious with your favorite fruit dip!

What are your favorite fruits to add to a fruit tray?
