Crockpot Nachos
Tailgating season is here and whether your sport of choice is football, basketball, wrestling, NASCAR or something else, it’s a great time of year to get together with your family and friends for good fun and food. We get together often with our large extended family here at Two Kids and a Coupon. With lots of people to serve, I’m always looking for fun and easy finger foods for all the family in our life to enjoy. It can sometimes be difficult to feed large groups on a budget, but when you plan ahead and use printable coupons, it’s more affordable than you think!

One of our current entertaining favorites to do on a budget is a Make Your Own Nachos Bar. By using two crockpots, I’m able to get everything ready ahead of time and then when it’s time to eat, just let everyone to enjoy.

To get ready for a wrestling pay-per-view at our house, the guys put a request in for super nachos and we headed to the store this weekend to get everything we needed. To save on our shopping at Walmart, I printed off some great Kraft coupons to make our entertaining more affordable.

How to Make Taco Meat in Crockpot
To make preparing and serving our super nachos easier, I prepared our taco meat and nacho sauce in two separate crockpots. To make taco meat in a crockpot, add one pound of ground beef, one packet of taco seasoning and one cup water and cook on low for several hours until thoroughly browned. Stir often, breaking up hamburger. Once cooked you can keep warm on low or warm for several hours. Drain any extra grease from the ground beef before serving. If you’re making nachos (or tacos) for a larger crowd, double or triple these amounts.

How to Make Nacho Cheese in Crockpot
Mix 8 ounces of Velveeta with 1 jar of your favorite jar nacho cheese sauce. Cook on low until melted and then reduce to warm until serving. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add in 1/2 of a cup milk to make a thinner consistency. If you like a little more kick to your nacho cheese sauce, stir in 1/2 to 1 cup picante sauce or salsa. If you don’t have a second crockpot, this can also be prepared quickly on the stove over low heat.

Before serving to your hungry guests, place your favorite nacho toppings in different bowls for easy assembly. I purchased these cute and handy containers for $1 each at my local discount store and they work great for serving and make for easy clean up too. In addition to your taco meat and cheese sauce, offer salsa or picante sauce, Kraft Natural Cheese (grated)Taco Bell sour cream dip and refried or black beans. If your crew has other things that they like one their nachos like green onions, be sure to offer those as well!

What are some of your favorite nacho combinations?

  1. Robin Wilson says:

I love cooking using my crock pot! So easy and convenient that I will use it any time I can. I love the idea of using two of them for this! Brilliant. Thanks for the recipe and the coupon list…just wish they were linked. Oh well, I’ll find ’em.

  2. Hi Robin. The recipes are right above. The instructions are below the picture of the crockpot for both the cheese sauce and the crockpot taco meat. The rest is just setting out the toppings like shredded cheese and salsa. If you have further questions, please let me know. :)

  3. Jenna Wood says:

We make Soft Nachos with tortilla punch outs or wedges; my biggest nacho must have, at least 3 types of cheeses! Kraft has plenty of great cheese! #Client

  4. I could really go for some of these right now =) YUM, and it’s perfect with fall right around the corner.

  5. I love nachos and my crock pot! The idea of make your own nacho bar using crock pots is genious:) If I am making the meat and cheese as instructed in this recipe, will each fit in a small 2.5 qt crock pot or would the 6 qt be needed? I would love to be able to use my 3 – 2.5 qt crock pots for this. It would be perfect, that is if it will fit:)

    • Not sure the size of mine, but they are pretty big. However there was tons of space and you should be able to use your smaller crockpot and still be fine. :)
