Hunger heroes 1

As our kids go back to school and we gather around the dinner table each night, one thought does break my heart often as I think about it. Knowing that some of my children’s classmates don’t have enough to eat. While we often see commercials asking for donations overseas, there are far too many hungry kids right here in our own communities. Even when you’re shopping on budget it can be easy to find little ways to help hungry kids who fight poverty in the U.S.A.. From picking up one or two extra items when you buy groceries, to cleaning out your cupboards and donating extras to your local pantry, to volunteering at local shelters you can fight hunger right in your own neighborhood.

Fight Hunger

If you’re headed to Sam’s Club this month for your regular shopping, a great program called Hunger Heroes can help you save the day for hungry people in your community. This sharing initiative allows you to help give a donation at no additional cost to you when you buy select products including Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets 5 lb. bags, a KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner 7.25 oz. 12-pack, and/or a Capri-Sun 6 oz. 40-pack. When you purchase these products at Sam’s Club during August, Tyson and KRAFT will help feed a child in need*.

Last weekend I headed to Sam’s Club with my little superhero to have him help me purchase these items so that donations could be made to help hungry kids in our area. Finding these KRAFT and Tyson products were so easy that my preschool superhero found them on his own when I told him what we were looking for.

While we were there, we also checked out a delicious demo that included Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets, KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner and a Capri-Sun .

My little superhero can never turn down an opportunity to enjoy some of his favorites. He was excited by the tasty free samples and dined on his feast throughout the rest of Sam’s Club.

Be sure to look for these food demos at your local Sam’s Club the weekend of August 23rd and 24th.

During our shopping, we also picked up some extras to donate to a food pantry near our Sam’s Club that takes both perishable and non-perishable foods. It’s nice to know there’s an easy way to make a difference and that these brands are helping people learn how to stop hunger in simple ways. Whether you purchase these items just for your family, or pick up extras to donate, they’re helping feed hungry people who really need it with every purchase.

This special #HungerHeroes campaign is going on at all Sam’s Clubs during August. You can learn more about Hunger Heroes at www.samsclub.com/hungerheroes, and you can also play some fun Hunger Heroes games at hungerheroes2014.clubtyson.com or www.facebook.com/ClubTyson/app_663319733757075.

What are some of the ways your family helps stop hunger in your own community?

*Items to be donated are: 4oz. of protein, 6 fl. oz. CAPRI SUN, and/or 2.5 oz. of KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinners
