Two Kids and a Coupon received tickets to cover Monster Jam for purposes of covering this event. All opinions and fun watching gigantic noisy trucks is completely and totally our own.
We like big trucks and we cannot lie! If you’re looking for bigger than life entertainment, you definitely don’t have to look any further than Monster Jam. One of motor sports hottest events is bigger than life and fun for all ages. We had the fantastic opportunity to get in on the fun of Monster Jam this weekend and if you’re not familiar with the sport, here’s a little bit about it.
Monster Jam, sanctioned by the United States Hot Rod Association, is the most popular monster truck tour, performing to over 4 million fans annually at the most prestigious arenas and stadiums throughout the world. Monster Jam shows consist of three main fan-favorite elements – the pit party, racing and freestyle.
Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.
This weekend we attended Monster Jam at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa and had a great time at the show. Both my 9 year old daughter and 4 year old son had a great time at the show and we had a great time watching the huge trucks race, jump cars and more. There were lots of crashes and we also loved the four-wheeler races and motorcycle races in between the monster truck events. We’ll definitely be going back to see more Monster Jam in the future and my little man in particular is counting the days until he can see more big trucks!
