Want a fun and easy version of baked potato chips that you can make right at home? These easy to make chips can be done in minutes in your microwave, and you can make a variety of flavors using seasonings you probably already already have on hand at home. Here’s how!
- Several large potatoes
- Pam Oil Spray
- Parchment Paper
- Salt and assorted seasonings
Step 1: Wash several potatoes and cut very thin. (We sliced them on a mandolin slicer at 1/8″). They are great with peel or without. That part is up to you. Layout a clean towel and pat the potato slices dry, removing the extra water.
Step 2: Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the glass plate in your microwave. Arrange the potatoes on the parchment and spray very lightly with Pam spray oil. (optional)
Step 3: Use seasonings such as salt, popcorn salt, cinnamon sugar or whatever you like to season the potatoes to taste. Here on the left we used regular salt and on right we used nacho cheese.
Be sure to watch these closely while cooking as different microwaves can vary. You might need to adjust the final cooking time slight by 30 seconds or so if your microwave tends to overcook.
These easy to make chips are great with other vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes and are a good way to get kids to eat healthy disguised as crunchy chips. They are not fried and have very little oil if any at all (you don’t have to spritz them with Pam, that step is optional). They are great with kettle corn seasoning as well!
