Creating With Kids – Easy Rag Wreath Christmas Ornaments

Rag Wreath Ornaments

Looking for a fun and easy project that you can make with the kids to help everyone get into the holiday spirit?

These easy rag wreath ornaments are quick and simply to make and if your children can tie a basic knot (like the the first knot in tying their shoes) they can help make these cute ornaments to hang on your tree at home or to gift to family and friends. Here’s what you need.

Supplies:

  • Fabric Strips in Seasonal Colors
  • Metal Ring (we used a ring from canning lid minus the lid, but any metal ring would work)
  • Ribbon (if you want to add a bow to the front of your wreath)

Step 1:  Cut your fabric into strips. (We cut ours 7 inches long and 3/4 inches wide)

Step 2:  Using one fabric strip at a time, tie the strips around the metal ring in a knot. Keep the knots close together and vary the colors and patterns to keep your wreath fun and festive.

Step 3:
Keep tying your strips into knots all the way around the wreath filling up the metal ring.

Step Four:  You can also add a bow, buttons or other fun decorations to finish off your wreath with final touches. We kept ours simple since the kids were making them, but if you’re making them on your own without little helpers, they could definitely get a lot more decorated and festive.

Have fun!

This is really cute! I’m curious how a full sized foam wreath would look with the fabric strips but obviously larger. Thanks for the great idea!
