Did you know that you now can be a corporate tycoon from the comfort of your own living room?
The latest version of Monopoly has a fun new twist and kids and grownups alike can buy and sell some of the worlds favorite brands on a new tricked out game board giving you the fantasy of owning it all in Monopoly Empire. Buy and sell such major companies such as as Coca-Cola, Xbox, Samsung, EA and McDonald’s as you move your way around the Monopoly board and add them to your billboard tower. You can also collect rent from your opponents based on your billboard and be the first to complete your town to win the game!
We were recently asked to to check out Monopoly Empire and while my kids are still a bit too young for this game, Mr. Two Kids and a Coupon and I broke it out recently after the kiddos went to bed. This really is a fun and unique twist on an old classic. Being a board game purist and original Monopoly fan, I wasn’t sure if I would like it, so I went into the game with a bit of a grudge, but I was quickly won over. Monopoly Empire is a fun and original twist on the classic game, and doesn’t try to replace the classic game that we all love.
This new version Monopoly Empire is different in several aspects. It’s much faster paced than normal Monopoly. We were able to play games in around 20 minutes which is nice if you’re short on time and if you’re playing this for family game night, you’ll be able to play the game several times. It’s nice that there’s no bankruptcy (which can be hard to understand when playing with kids) and the power player role is pretty cool. The brands are all recognizable and kids should be able to recognize most if not all of the companies on the board and since this game is based more on luck than strategy, kids should be able to play along better than with traditional Monopoly.
Overall Monopoly Empire was a cool and fun twist on traditional Monopoly. While my own kids aren’t quite old enough to play, I can’t wait to try it out with my nephews at our next family gathering.
