One of the realities of being a mom is that you not only never get days off, but you never get sick days either — no matter if you are really, truly horribly sick.

Last month after coming back from a whirlwind blogging trip I came down with a brutal bug that left me so sick I could barely walk. One doctor said bronchitis  another said pneumonia, but no matter what it was I felt horrible and while my husband helped, it didn’t change the fact that I still had to take care of the the kids and my husband who had a different flu bug with horrible vomiting. Our whole house was sick and contaminated and I had to get up, moving and functional fast no matter how bad I felt.

So, I hauled my sick, coughing behind out of bed and decided it was a great time to put one of my latest product reviews to good use. I’ve been a long time user of NyQuil and DayQuil, so these products are not new for me and they also helped save the day and get me moving so that I could help take care of my sick kids and husband. If you’re not familiar with these products, here’s a little bit about them.

Vicks DayQuil Cold & Flu Relief offers non-drowsy, multiple-symptom relief for those who don’t want to lose a moment to a cold or the flu. Vicks DayQuil Cold & Flu Relief helps ease five symptoms of a cold – aches, fever, sore throat, stuffy head and cough.

Sleep is an important part of a recovery from a cold or flu, but it’s not always easy to get the rest you need when you are sick. Vicks NyQuil Cold & Flu Relief helps relieve symptoms of a cough, cold or flu so you can get the sleep you need so you don’t lose a moment. The relief provided by Vicks NyQuil Cold & Flu Relief is a result of three active ingredients that work to fight symptoms of a cough, cold or flu. Specifically, the ingredients in NyQuil Cold & Flu Relief help relieve symptoms by suppressing the urge to cough, reducing a fever, alleviating minor aches and pains, and relieving sneezing and runny nose.

While it took me a couple weeks to recover from my bug, with the help of DayQuil and NyQuil, this Mom was at least able to get up and out of bed and back to work and back to caring for my family despite the fact that I was sick. It’s been my standby for years during the winter cold and flu season here in Iowa and it’s a must have since Mom’s just don’t get sick days.
