Looking for a fun an inexpensive gift you can still make to give friends and family this holiday season? Here’s a fun project to keep the kids busy for the next few days until Christmas and the results are lots of fun!
What you’ll need
3 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water
Wooden skewer
Paintbrushes
Acrylic paint
Mod Podge
Narrow ribbon
How to make it
Using an electric mixer, beat together the flour, salt, and water on medium speed until a ball forms, then remove the dough and knead it until it is smooth.
To make each ornament, roll the dough into a golf ball?size ball and flatten it with your palm. Use small pieces of dough to make noses, lips, hair, and the like. Affix each to the face with a drop of water and smooth away any creases. Use the skewer to make eyes and to poke a hole through the ornaments about 1/2-inch from the top.
Heat the oven to 275 degrees. Bake the ornaments on a foil-lined cookie sheet for 2 hours. Allow them to cool completely.
Paint on the skin color. When the paint is dry to the touch (about 10 minutes), paint the remaining details.
Once the paint is dry, seal the ornaments, front and back, with a layer of Mod Podge. Let them dry, then add a ribbon loop to each

How cute! I love making gifts that come from the heart rather from the store. Hopefully mine will come out actually looking like people though lol, I am not the most ‘artistic’ person
I’ve always known about this home made play-doh type clay but never thought about making ornaments. its sooo cute thank you!
