Cooking With Kids – How to Make Pumpkin Kiss Turkey Cookies

Want a fun  treat to make with the kids tomorrow while you’re waiting for guests? Here’s a Thanksgiving twist on a popular cookie that’s sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

¾ cup granulated sugar, plus more for rolling

¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup pumpkin puree

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

1 teaspoon kosher salt

24 Hershey’s Kisses

Candy Corn

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets and set aside. Sift together the flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt and set aside.

In an electric mixer beat the sugar and butter until fluffy. Then beat in the egg, vanilla, and pumpkin puree until smooth.

With the mixer on low add in the flour mixture until just combined. Then, pinch off pieces of the dough and form balls about 1 1/2 –inches in diameter and rolls in the granulated sugar. Place each ball about 2-inchs apart on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes, or until the cookies lightly browned around the edges.

Allow the cookies to cool for one minute. Then, place the Hershey’s kisses on top of each cookie and press down slightly. Immediately form about 5 candy corn around it in a fan-like form to make it look like a turkey. Cool the cookies completely before serving
