As a working mom, sometimes I worry about the amount of time I have to work with my kids and teach them at home. I know so many stay at home moms that have much more time to work with their kids daily on basic learning skills, and I don’t want my kids to be behind, just because I do work outside the home. I’ve been working with my 8 year old stepdaughter on her reading, writing and other school skills for a while , and now that my little man is officially in preschool, I’ve been looking for some resources to help me teach him some basics as well.
After not having much luck finding resources in stores in our little rural town, I came across the opportunity to review an amazing learning system this week from www.teachmy.com. Developed by a mom who wanted better resources to teach her own toddler, Teach My has blossomed into a complete series of comprehensive learning tools to teach babies, toddlers and preschoolers educational basics such as the alphabet, counting and reading at a very early age.
We were recently offered the amazing opportunity to review the Teach My Preschooler kit. This multi award-winning all-in-one learning kit is targeted for preschoolers ages3-6 yrs and is divided into four sections to teach your preschooler – Reading, Printing, Numbers to 100, Adding and Subtracting. With no batteries or DVDs, the kit has an assortment of everything necessary for teaching preschoolers the basics and includes fully-coordinated books, flashcards, posters, a print guide and magic drawing board, all in a case.
When I first opened the kit, I admit I was a little worried my little man was too young. He just turned 3 and just started preschool this week. While admittedly he’s a pretty quick little fellow, I wasn’t sure how ready he was for some of the activities in this kit. However he proved me wrong before we even made it through the first section. Not only could he get a majority of the flashcards accurately, but he could also match up the numbers and do many of the activities included. The ones he wasn’t able to do, we worked on together. While a few of the activities he’s not quite ready for just yet, I’m sure he will be very, very soon — especially if we practice with this kit regularly. The each My Preschooler kit does come with a useful teaching guide, which helped me guide him through some of the activities, and we also had fun making up our own learning games with the various pieces. Here’s what our kit included:
Coordinated Value Pack Includes:
- 10 Readers
- 60 Flashcards
- 1 Flashcard Reward Tin
- 1 Flashcard Holder
- 1 Magic Drawing Board
- 78 Print Transparencies & Printing Guide
- 101 Train Flashcards
- 3 Posters
- 2 Flip-Books
- Foam Numbers, Counters and Equation Signs
- Teaching Guide
- Storage case
One of the things that blew me away about this kit was how organized and compact it is. Organized in a handy carrying case with divided sections, it’s easy to store, as well as take on the go, and inside each section of learning comes in its own separate packet to keep everything together and tidy for using again and again. All of the included resources are age appropriate and themed right at preschooler’s interests. My little guy in particular LOVED the numbers packet with a train themed counting book, flashcards and more.
We’ve only been working with the Teach My kit a few days and I’ve already noticed a difference in how well my little man understands the basics and I know his skills will only increase as we use it more. There’s an obvious reason it’s claimed so many awards, and I only wish that I had found it sooner to have helped him with the toddler and baby skill kits as well. The Teach My kits would make a great purchase for any parent or grandparent looking to work with the babies, toddlers or preschoolers in your life, and would also make an excellent gift to help get your children ready for preschool and kindergarten.
