We moms wear a lot of hats, and in addition to doctor, babysitter, and more we also often play dieticians and meal planners for our families. If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for meals and treats that your family will eat, but that are healthy for them too. This can sometimes be a pretty big challenge, especially when you have picky little eaters. A lot of “low fat” cookies and treats, also tend to be low in flavor – and so undesirable in taste that your kids or spouse will never eat them, much less let you buy them again.
As we’ve begun planning back to school lunches, I recently put out a query for back to school products to feature here on 2 Kids and a Coupon and one of the most flavor filled inquiries I received review are some amazing cookies called Almondina®. This all-natural, crispy almond cookie has no cholesterol and no added fat, salt, or preservatives and has an amazing crunch that kids and grown-ups alike love. It’s a great addition to kids lunchboxes, as well as a treat at home, and is great with coffee, milk, tea, and even with soft cheeses or fine light wines.
Almondina® developed from a family’s very secret recipe for a special crispy cookies. Originally called Petit Gateau Sec, these wafer cookies had the flavor of roasted almonds and the natural sweetness of plump raisins. Realizing how his grandmother’s recipe also met the demands of healthy conscious buyers for a delicious, but extremely nutritious cookie, the developers grandson renamed them Almondina and begun marketing on a wider scale. Within just a few years, the cookies were available in all fifty states, sought after in seven foreign countries, and had brought him recognition as Entrepreneur of the Year. Since the introduction of the classic Original flavor, eight more distinctive variations have been introduced, all of which continue to be packed with roasted almonds. A recent innovation, Chocolate Cherry, combines the almonds with dark chocolate and plump cherries.
Here’s just a few of the flavor-full characteristics that these tasty little cookies have to offer:
· Crunchy, addictive, healthful
· Free of cholesterol, coloring and preservatives
· Made with no added fat or salt
· Low in calories – only 30 per slice
· Proudly made in America
· Kosher and Pareve (non dairy)
I had hoped to show some personal pictures of these wonderful cookies, however they disappeared nearly as quickly as they arrived – which tells me not only did my family love them, but that I’ve definitely got to order more. The kids liked them just by themselves as a snack, but my favorite was at work with my morning coffee, and they were also great with some light spreadable cheeses. We loved all the flavors in the variety pack we received, but our 2 favorites were definitely the Choconut and the Cinnaroma. Both had tons of flavor and were great depending on our mood. I’m not even a raisin fan normally, but I admit I love these healthy cookies and will definitely be getting more for my family. These would be great to have on hand at home for healthy treats, for lunchbox desserts, to send to a student off to college, or to send a sampler gift pack to loved ones as a holiday season gift.
