Now that I’m a mom, one of the things that cracks me up about kids is how attached they become to certain toys. Although to us grownups it’s just a doll, a stuffed animal or a toy car or train, to them that toy is one of their best friends. It comforts them when they’re sad, keeps them safe at night, and are their playmates when they’re happy. My little man’s toys even show support for his potty training by sitting on the bathroom counter while he does his business.
Because these little “friends” are so important in our kids lives, parents and grandparents often will search high and low for new and unique items for the kids we love, and this week I discovered a new treasure for my 8 year old step-daughter in Zylie the Bear.
Zylie the Bear was created by “mompreneur” Mary Beth Minton as a doll alternative for teddy bear and stuffed animal lovers. Together with her son Matt McCarty, the two have created an entire world of adventure revolving around Zylie, an adorable little bear from Manhattan who travels the globe meeting new friends along the way.
Zylie is an inquisitive, fashionable and fun 12-year-old teddy bear from Manhattan that’s designed to be dressed and played with like a doll! She’s 18” and comes complete with her signature outfit and accessories. The startup kit includes the flounce top, skinny jeans, white coat and orange tote complete with her map, diary and passport. Kids can begin to read and explore Zylie‘s adventures with the first book in the series, included.
While our family travels a great deal anyway, my stepdaughter travels even more so. She switches back and forth frequently between our home and her mom’s home, and this fellow traveler toy is a perfect companion for her to take with her regardless of where she is staying. She was super excited to get Zylie when I first showed her the pictures online, and was totally blown away when the bear arrived. Carefully packaged in a beautiful box, the bear has amazing detail and quality and she loved that the outfit was similar to the clothes that she herself wears. Zylie the Bear has quickly become her constant companion and it’s great that the bear also travels, helping them bond even more so. They’ll both be traveling together a great deal in the future I’m sure, and Zylie is already coming on vacation with us this weekend.
