After a whole weekend of nothing but toddler songs, a mom has got to have some grown up music and the new album I checked out over the weekend definitely delivers. I recently had the opportunity to review an advance sampler of Hedley‘s new album, The Show Must Go, set to release on December 7.
Led by Jacob Hoggard, a runner-up on Canadian Idol, Hedley has a great chemistry as a band and have been playing together on the Canadian music scene for 4 years now. Now making their US debut, they’ve won acclaim in Canada by earning two multi-platinum albums and a devoted fan base through a regimen of hard work and relentless touring. Hedley has received a total of 11 career Juno nominations, Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys. The songs included on this album, The Show Must Go include: “Cha Ching”; “Don’t Talk To Strangers”; “Scream”; “Hands Up”; “Amazing”;”Shelter”; “Young And Stupid”; “Perfect”; “Sweater Song”; “9 Shades Of Red” and “Friends”.
Depending on the song this album is a friendly mix of pop, punk and techno with some acoustic thrown in for good measure. “Sweater Song” and “Friends” are acoustic songs that could melt any girl’s heart and “Cha-Ching” plays on pop culture’s obsession reality TV. A nice addition to anyone’s iPod, this album, I did like this album, however is not family friendly to listen to when children are around due to some of the lyrics. Save it for after the kids are in bed or a grownups only road trip.
